德克萨斯南方大学 is a governmental body subject to Texas Government Code, 第552章, (the Texas 公共信息 Act), which gives the public a right of access to information collected, 组装, 维护, owned or controlled by a governmental body in connection with the transaction of official business (public information). The Texas 公共信息 Act does not require that a governmental body disclose information that has not yet been recorded. 因此, governmental bodies are not mandated to create or make a record that did not exist at the time of the request. Certain exceptions may apply to the disclosure of the information. Governmental bodies shall promptly release requested information that is not confidential by law, 要么宪法, 法定, 或者通过司法裁决, or information for which an exception to disclosure has not been sought. "Promptly" means a reasonable amount of time which may vary depending on the the facts of the case and the volume of information, although most records are provided within ten business days. An officer for public information and the officer’s agent may not ask why you want the information.
